How to Photo-Scan a Test Strip

Photo-Scanning supports a wide array LaMotte manufactured test strips.

To begin, download the WaterLink Solutions app:

For the most accurate results, follow these three simple rules:
1) Always photo-scan your test strip out of direct sunlight, like indoors or under a covered area.
2) Place the strip on a plain white background, like an unlined piece of paper.
3) Avoid casting a shadow over any part of the test strip.

Now, start by taking a photo using the app.

Within the app, start a water test and choose “Photo-scan” as your test method. Select your strip from the dropdowns to begin. Choose to “take Photograph.” Alternatively, you can use a photo from your gallery if you’ve taken the picture previously.

Dip the test strip in your water sample. Shake the strip once to remove excess water. Place the strip on a plain white surface, like a piece of unlined paper. Hold your phone or tablet directly over the test strip and snap a picture with the strip vertically aligned in the frame. Avoid casting a shadow over the test strip.

Be sure to photo-scan the strip before 60 seconds have passed since dipping the strip, otherwise your results may be inaccurate. After snapping the picture, review your photo. If the picture is clear and well framed, tap to confirm the image, otherwise you can retake it.

The final preview will display how the image will be sent to the server. If the test strip is vertically aligned and in frame, you’re good to go. Tap the submit button.

Wait for the image to be processed. Results will be displayed onscreen. Follow any remaining onscreen instructions in the app for your treatment recommendations.
