LaMotte Pulse®

LaMotte Pulse® includes:

PulseDisks™, which monitor your water continuously for 30 days, are sold separately.

Temperature is factory calibrated and maintains its accuracy for at least two years. For the other measurements, LaMotte Pulse® uses sensor disks that come loaded with approximately 50 mL of standardized saltwater. When a LaMotte PulseDisk® is installed, it automatically calibrates the optical measurements to the standardized saltwater. When the auto calibration is complete, the user discards the standardized saltwater and no additional calibration is required during the 30-day service life of the LaMotte PulseDisk®.

Temperature is measured via inert (rhodium plated) electrodes. The sensors on the LaMotte PulseDisk® contain proprietary covalently-bound indicator compounds. The indicators change color or fluorescence intensity in response to the water parameters and are responsive and reversible on a practical timescale. This allows measurement of levels that are constantly going up and down. The system does not use any reagents.

All materials in LaMotte Pulse® have been carefully selected to be fish-safe and reef-safe, and we've performed extensive testing to ensure that the covalently-bound indicator compounds in the LaMotte PulseDisk® sensors do not leach into the aquarium water. Most users choose to install the Heart (submerged sensors) in the sump, but it can also be installed in your display tank.
